PZ Water-Swelling Sealing Strip
Unlike passive seals, our strip contains hydrophilic polymers that actively absorb water, triggering a controlled 150%-300% volume expansion. This creates a powerful, sustained sealing pressure (0.15-0.25 MPa), automatically compensating for gaps and irregularities to block water ingress completely.
Product Overview
The PZ (Product-Type) Water-Swelling Sealing Strip is a rubber-based seal that expands upon contact with water to form a tight, compressive seal. It is primarily used for waterproof sealing in concrete construction joints, expansion joints, pipe penetrations, and other similar applications.
How It Works
When exposed to water, hydrophilic materials within the seal absorb moisture, causing its volume to expand by 150%-300%. This creates continuous swelling pressure against the joint surfaces, forming a dense, impermeable barrier that effectively blocks water penetration.
Key Features
Self-Sealing: Automatically expands upon water contact; no external pressure required.
High Expansion Rate: Volume can expand by 150%-300%.
Sustained Pressure: Generates continuous swelling pressure of 0.15–0.25 MPa.
High Water Pressure Resistance: Withstands water pressure up to 0.8–1.5 MPa.
Easy Installation: Preformed for quick and simple installation.
Adapts to Movement: Flexible and capable of accommodating structural movement.
Long Service Life: Durable performance over extended periods.

Installation Guidelines
Surface Preparation: Ensure joint surfaces are clean, dry, and free of loose material.
Placement: Position the strip centrally in the joint groove or around penetration sleeves.
Fixing: Secure with nails, adhesive, or embedding in fresh concrete.
Splicing: For continuous joints, butt ends together with slight overlap or use manufacturer’s splice kit.
Concrete Placement: Pour and compact concrete carefully to avoid displacing the strip.
Activation: Water contact will trigger expansion. No manual activation needed.
Benefits vs. Traditional Methods
| PZ Water-Swelling Strip | Traditional Rubber Waterstop |
|---|---|
| Self-sealing upon water contact | Requires precise compression during installation |
| No need for external clamping or pressure | Often requires external fixing and pressure |
| Fills irregular gaps automatically | May leave voids if not properly installed |
| Easier installation in complex joints | More labor-intensive installation |
| Continuous sealing even with minor movement | Potential leakage if joint moves beyond design |
Packaging & Storage
Packaging: Each strip coiled and wrapped in plastic, packed in carton boxes.
Labeling: Clear product labels with size, type, and batch number.
Storage: Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture.
Shelf Life: 12 months under proper storage conditions.
